Saturday Soundtrack {Pharrell Williams}

After his great appearance on the Despicable Me 2 Soundtrack (Happy) and upcoming production/features it was hard to overlook Mr Pharrell Williams (also the sexiest man in music) as today's Saturday Soundtrack.

So he is featured on the year's BIGGEST tune, "Get Lucky" the return to form by Daft Punk. I truly believe this tune might just be the number one in my year end Top 200 list and also the Hottest 100 on JJJ. They are on the way to having the biggest song in Winter and this tune just continues to get covered all over YouTube and by little on San Cisco (recently featured on this very blog).

So let's now take a look/listen to the career of Pharrell (well a brief one, I have to jet to the Central Coast in a bit).

He has unfortunately only had one studio album (I am hoping for a second) so let's take a look at the highlights:

Littered with guests from Kanye to Snoop, this one featured the IT girl back then Ms Gwen Stefani:

Speaking of the Kanye feature, it's "Number One":

From solo albums to features and man has he done some features, here are some highlights:

He teamed up with Britney for this killer pop jam "Boys":

Jay Z and Pharrell can also produce total magic in the studio:

One of Snoop Dogg's most famous songs was a Pharrell MEGA hit:

Pharrell can also dance and before Swedish House Mafia called it quits they got Pharrell in the house:

Before we move off guest features it would be hard to leave out Daft Punk, so here it is:

We also cannot forget he is a major part of NERD, so let's take a look at one of their greatest hits before we move onto his long list of production efforts:

OK so onto production efforts and he has worked with everyone and I mean everyone from P.Diddy to Kelis, Britney to Nelly, LL Cool J to Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani to Julian Casablancas (The Strokes). So I think we will totally have to come back to this one day for a segment I love called Super Producers because looking at Pharrell's catalogue is just like looking at the history of fantastic pop music.

OK so let's listen to a couple of his production highlights so then I can cut a rug to some of the killer tunes featured above. If this doesn't get you ready for Saturday night, nothing will!

OK I hope you enjoyed this mix as much as I enjoyed making it. Happy Weekends!
